Salutations from Space and Happiest Super Moon to You!
Thus far into my current career as an astrolonaut, my newsletter’s orbit has been rather comet-like, which is to say rare and somewhat erratic. It’s been hard to find the time to write during these busiest months of my life, but I can’t complain because most of my waking moments (as well as many of those sleeping) have been devoted to dialing in the dream that is rapidly unfolding around me as I allow myself to align more completely to my calling.
That’s really what this Moonth is all about. The Virgo Archetype, in her highest light, is independent connection to Spirit through our personal practice and devotion to our Sacred Work. She is Ceremonial Priestess… Virgin Priestess. And He is the the Green Man. I like to say the Virgin has been devirginzized by deceitful definition for, long ago, Virgin did not mean celibate.
“The Virgin Goddesses of myth were not virgins in the sexual sense. In fact, they were often portrayed as sensual and promiscuous. In Latin, the word Virgo means ‘unmarried’ or ‘self-possessed,’ and not sexual purity, but a self-sufficiency which made these deities eschew wifely roles. As mistress of herself, the virgin goddess belonged to no one, and therefore acted solely from her own will.” (Liz Green’s “Mythic Astrology”)
I believe we find free will when we free our will. We have been culturally conditioned to believe it is right for us to devote ourselves to the intentions of others rather than honoring our own. The archetypal image of this current crazy is that prayers will only be answered when addressed through the Papal Post Office. Most of us have now found the humor in that joke, but unfortunately by abandoning Spirit rather than finding it within. Virgo helps us rectify this loss by stoking the flames of our Sacred Work. She teaches us that true independence is found through the practice of undependence. We find free will when we free our will.
Easier said than done! And sometimes we must destroy so that we may create a better way. What must we eliminate to manifest a reality in which abundance is given to those who follow their passion? In the Moon Game I play, intentions of undependence and service through sacred work were to be planted during the first week of the Virgo Moonth, which began with the August 25th Virgo New Moon. The following week, which began with Sagittarius First Quarter Moon on September 2nd brings tensions to our intentions, but illumination begins with the Pisces Full Moon (a Super Moon) tonight. Now we begin to see how those tensions have come to help us align to the truth of our Highest Excitement and as we release the old, wisdom comes through to help us embrace new opportunities as the cycle completes.
You can read more about the cycle of the Moon Game on my website HERE or listen to a wily weekend conversation I had with a couple Space Sisters on their Muse Broadcast about the Virgo Archetype and the Moon Game HERE.
I also had the honor of discussing the joys and challenges of following our passions with Dena Marie on Lift Your Spirits Radio, which you can listen to HERE.

and in this article I wrote for the Shamanic Astrology Mystery School about balancing Wisdom and Passion in all that we do: HEART AND THE FEATHER
I cordially invite those of you in the Northwest to join me for the last of my monthly AstroMythological Shamanic Slideshows at OneDoorLand in Portland on Saturday, September 20th or at Sutra Yoga in Seattle on Sunday, September 21st. Each will feature live musicians and other celestial guests to honor the mysteries of Virgo and the asteroid goddess Vesta. Details can be found on my EVENTS PAGE and links to YouTube videos of a few previous talks can be found on my MOVIES PAGE.
I will also be presenting at the second annual Shamanic Astrology Mystery School Conference, which will be held under starry skies in Tubac, Arizona October 3rd – 5th just before the full Lunar Eclipse. Details can be found HERE.
When I return home, I intend to devote myself to the creation of monthly AstroloTea Ceremonies throughout the northwest. The first will be held somewhere in Seattle on October 23rd to honor the full Solar Eclipse. More about that in the next edition of the Signs of the Times which I intend to align to the more frequent and regular cycle of the Moon. If you know anyone who would like to sign up for the Newsletter, please forward this LINK along.
As always, I would be more than honored to share my Highest Excitement with you through the sharing of a personal More Than Astrology reading. You can read more about the Services I provide HERE.
Thank you for your ear and for facing your fears so that you may better share the passions of your Highest Excitement with the world.
