Leo Venus and Jupiter embrace in the Sunrise Sky. Lion and Lioness cuddle up for a kiss so why not sing the beauty of 2014's closest Planetary conjunction? I mean, just look at it! It is said that a Conjunction is the strongest blend of energies represented by two Planets. What are the energies of Venus and Jupiter? Traditionally, these brightest lights are described as the two Benefics. What could be more beneficial than their combined energies? The old school says Venus is Love and Money and that Jupiter expands anything it touches. We're all rich and loved for a day! Okay, but please don't cast Angelina for this one, Walt.
Shamanic Astrology works with Venus as the Goddess, the Feminine, the Anima and Jupiter as the fast lane of the highway to our Soul Intent. I, personally, see the Gas Giant Guru as initiator of the highest spiritual opening of mysticism. Could there be a more beautiful expression of the Sacred Feminine than the Mystic Goddess? This Venus - Jupiter Conjunction in Leo surely must speak to the spiritual stoking of the Divine Feminine's Fire and Will. That's the tune I heard sung by these brightest Planetary notes as they rose together this morning.

I must admit it's not always easy for a late-night astrolonaut to rise before the Sun. Perhaps it helped that this morning's Gemini Moon was almost exactly aligned to my rising star of Aldebaran (the bright Eye of the Bull, which today resides at 9.27 Gemini). This Gemini Moon also formed a near perfect Sextile (green line on the chart above) to Venus and Jupiter in Leo. In Sextile Aspect, planetary energies flow together, opening into new possibilities and connections.
The old ways say Gemini as an Air Sign is a weak position for the emotional Moon. I once wrote a song called "Gemini Moon" that says "What can I say? My Gemini ways have me thinking too quickly to feel." However, one of my favorite archetypes for the Gemini Mysteries is the Court Jester: the only one who can tell the King the truth without having his head cut off because he's not doing so for personal gain. His truth-speaking is a service to Spirit, a service to Truth itself. And the King can take this wise advise without suffering the shame of allowing the court to know he's doing so because the Jester delivers imperative information through the painted mask of eternal youth and a blur of juggled swords while balancing on a barrel or what not. Sometimes the greatest wisdom comes from the Fool because his words are the only ones that can wiggle through over-developed defense mechanisms. Perhaps this Gemini Moon Sextile to the rising Leo Venus-Jupiter Conjunction allows the once hidden truths of Divine Feminine Feeling to be heard by the King as a catalyst to healing.
And this Service to Spirit that Shamanic Astrology associates with the Mutable Signs was most aligned this morning through the Gemini Moon's T-Square with Virgo Mercury and Pisces Neptune (red triangle in the chart above). Neptune, at home, in Pisces showers us with empathic healing through new celestial visions while Virgo Mercury asks us to ground our consciousness through devotion to our Sacred Work. I love the polarity of Pisces and Virgo as the macrocosm and microcosm of spirituality. Virgo sees Spirit within every cell of our bodies while Pisces recognizes we are "but a cell in the body of the Great Unibeing" to paraphrase the great Gurdjieff.
In the words of legendary astrologer Dane Rudhyar "The meaning attributed to the familiar T-square (or T-cross) reflects this preoccupation with zodiacal factors and repeated aspects. The configuration was named for its two squares, not its opposition. And it is interpreted as a perfect cross from which one of the four factors is missing. The 'empty' factor is therefore seen as a zone of release for the energies produced by the combination of three planets in two squares including three of the four zodiacal elements."
In this morning's Gemini Moon - Virgo Mercury - Pisces Neptune T-Square, the "empty factor" and "zone of release" was around 6 degrees Sagittarius. No Planet or Point held that spot. Perhaps it is up to us, then, to fill that hole. Sagittarius is Service to Spirit in the Fire of Will and Intuition. It is the nature of the philosopher, the seeker, the explorer, the vision quester. Sri Yukteswar said "the only honor a man can pay is God is to seek Him." Royal Venus reminds us to add "the only honor a woman can pay her Goddess is to seek Her" and every combination thereof. Sagittarius asks us not to run from the big questions, the greatest questions, those that cannot be answered: who are we?, where do we come from?, where are we going? Sagittarius climbs the mountain to get a greater view of all that is. At it's peak we will find the Solar Fire of Spirit wishing to be returned to it's rightful place Within.
Perhaps these Aspects to the Venus-Jupiter Conjunction in the Fires of the Sunrise Sky are reminding us to rekindle the Fires of our Will. They remind us that we find Free Will when we Free our Will. And perhaps this is why the Asteroid Prometheus spun at 4 Degrees Sagittarius to fill that "empty factor" with the mythos of Spiritual Revolution. Could Prometheus' Trine to Venus suggest the Goddess is really meeting Jupiter to steal our Fire back from the Gods and rekindle the flames right where they belong? And this time, there will be no vulture ;)
