THe Heavenly Houses of the Horizon

I find myself contemplating the Heavenly Houses Held by the Horizons on this Equinox Day

The Astrological 12th House where all Planets Rise has a pretty tough rap in many circles. Why? Feel into what was going down during your 12th House time. You were! You were literally descending from the dark Waters of the Womb into this world of Light. Surprise!... contractions... it's time for extraction... and what was Mom's reaction? Could you feel her pain through the cord or were you too consumed by yours? Was she drugged? Did you arrive through Section C? Did you precede or follow a twin or three? Were you born by candlelight and caught by dad or was it some strange cat in a mask waiting to spank you in a spotlight just to see if you could cry? Hellenistic Astrology calls the 12th the "Place of Hidden Enemies." Heavy, right? Well, beck in the day, a great many women died during childbirth; literally 'killed' by a being who remained out of sight.
From a diurnal point of view, surely we describe the 12th House as "Hidden Things" because our sight of the Eastern Horizon, more often than not, is obscured by hills, clouds, or trees. In fact, If you live close to eastern mountains, you may not even see Sun, Moon, or the rest of the cosmic crew until They reach the 11th House or even the 10th. And where do those Planets come from anyway? What lives in the underworld below? What Mystery! When you wipe the sleep from your eyes at Sunrise, do you keep every scene of your dreams? Just what do we leave in the places Unseen? Self is the 1st so, as the world turns, the 12th is the last to make it back around to you. What are the Wishes and the Wounds of the last Heavenly House I simply know as the Waters of the Womb? What Wisdom is born from the distance divorce of forgetting where we came from on one side and, on the other, the odd urge for return to Source?

Now, why is the horizon on the other side of our World not seen as obscured? Hills and trees hide the West as often as they do the East so why is the 7th House not also known as “Hidden Things?” First, let us scope this Heavenly Horizon through the lenses of Primary and Secondary Directions. Zodiacally speaking, the 7th is the Place where we emerge into Othership Above after developing Self in the six Houses Below (Inside) and, from a Diurnal perspective, the Horizon on the West is where Planets go to Rest. The 7th is the House of Relationship because, in every moment, the Heavens descend into the Western Horizon to Marry the Earth.

At the Equator, on this day of Equal Light and Night, Sun will climb vertically from Due East rise, cast no midday shadows while culminating directly overhead, then Fall on a line to set Due West. Does the Libra Glyph not express this magical merger of Sun with the land of our World? The Sacred Marriage we call Sunset is celebrated by the Heavens and Earth every day in every place. Will you choose to attend the extra auspicious Equinox wedding? Go throw rice and you might just spy a green flash before the newlyweds are stashed inside a car of history that drives Below into Great Mystery. Or maybe, even through you can see, you might choose to give the Not-Two some privacy. I seem to hold some strange unconscious code that turns my head from or closes my eyes to the magic of a Planet’s disappearance. Knowing this, I often force myself to witness the trick, but do I ever really see that which I believe I seek? Perhaps there is something in the Marriage of Heaven and Earth that is simply too sacred for human eyes to witness just as no true love between two beings can truly be seen by those who attempt to observe from the outside.

Does this speak to the Wishes, the Wounds, and the Wisdom of the 7th Heavenly House? And what about those of the Others? What does Nature teach about the Houses that cannot be transmitted trough a written list of associations? Seek and ye shall find! Next week, I look forward to sharing some of what I have learned in my Astrological study with Nature. I invite you join me for a live journey through the Twelve Places on Thursday, September 28th at 6pm Pacific time. The only contribution requested is your presence and contemplative consideration. You will find this journey and so many other missions into Starry Wisdom at the Evolutionary Astrology Zoom Meetings group. Sign up for free on facebook right here.

Bright Blessings to you on this Sacred Day of Balance.

What is this Game Called Friday the 13th?

1/13/2017

Picture
Just exactly what is this strange Game called Friday the 13th? Should I lock my doors and hide beneath the bed? Hmmm, I think I'd prefer to honor the Goddess instead...
Do you know Friday is Venus' day? Some say our English "Friday" is a bow to Norse Goddess of Beauty, Freyja. Other's say to the Queen of Asgard, Odin's wife Frigg. Why not choose both? Regardless, it's quite easy to hear the tone of the Goddess referenced in "Fridays" Greek (Aphrodites Hemera) and Latin (Dies Veneris).
Picture
Picture
Yes, Friday is Venus' Day and the 13th is certainly a number of the Goddess.

You'll hear this is because there are 13 Moons a year, but that is not really precise as the Lunar and Solar calendars don't agree annually (it takes 19 years for them to align). There are about 12.3 Lunations (Synodic Moon Cycle of 29.5 days between repeated Moon Phase) per year during which Moon orbits Earth (Sidereal Lunar Cycle of 27.3 days) about 13.4 times as She averages a 13-Degree daily advance through the Zodiacal Stars and Signs. I've recently read articles stating the Full Moon often falls on or around the 13th of the month. That's just altogether wrong. It was true this month as the Full Moon aligned during the wee hours of the 12th, but last year the January Full Moon was on the 23rd and next year we'll have two on the 1st and the 31st.

While I certainly will never defend the strange months of days 31, 28 (sometimes 29), 31, 30... stitched in Gregorian disharmony, I also have a hard time with those who suggest we'll be fools until we abandon Sol for a calendar of 13 Moons. I typically respond by asking those Lunar Loons, "But, my friends, don't you too need food?" Yes, it is wise to honor phases of Moon when planting and harvesting, but surely the seasons of Earth must be considered first for agricultural concerns and those blossom from Gaia's dance with Sun.

Now, how many annual Seasons are there when we honor the Equinoxes and Solstices for the turns?... Four (1+3), each with 13 weeks just as there are 13 cards in each of the 4 suits... did you know you'd find a Solar Calendar in the deck of 52? Ooh, and speaking of cards, what about the mystical set where we find the Goddess' 13 marks the image called "Death"? Well, I'm told by a pro that in the oldest Tarot, the 13 was nameless just as "Fool" was numberless (the cards are older than zero, you know?).
Picture
Regardless, we see in the Rider Waite deck, the 13th called "Death" has another number to express for the black flag Signs an inverted flower of petals Five. And, of course, this brings us back to Venus... and to Earth. For, in the choreography of our mutual dances about Sun, we meet our Twin for five Planetary kisses every eight Years. Here on Earth during that time, we see Venus align between us the Light and to inscribe a five-pointed star in the circle of Sky called Zodiac. Now, those eight years on Earth equal 13 on Venus and I could go on and on about the Golden Number and the Fibonacci Sequence (1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13...) here, but instead I'll just plant those seeds (and plug my coming "Art of the Chart" Sacred Geometry of Astrology series) then go on to say if there is anything more demonized than the number 13, it must be the Pentagram, especially when inverted.

Picture
It would seem, Moon is not the only Goddess scorned by this Friday the 13th spell. Can't we hear Venus yell??? But there's more... 13 and the Pentagram are only symbols of Her dance with Earth. Is Gaia herself under attack? Do we really have to ask? Now, let's consider the spelling of the Latin Friday when seen by English-reading eyes: "Dies Veneris." More like Venus Dies. What does the priestly promoted fear of Friday the 13th teach? Can you sense the same trickery that lives in the Venusian etymology of words like venom, venal, venial and venereal disease??? Are we being taught to fear the Goddess in all of her Sacred forms?
And, finally, to address the horror game of the Friday the 13th films. I hope not to offend the Goddess on Her special day, but I'm called to to channel my inner 13-year-old for sharing this truth: my crew and I didn't watch those movies to see some psycho in a hockey mask... we watched those movies because... you know... boobs. The first time I saw people making love was on a screen, courtesy of "Friday the 13th." Unfortunately, there was more to the scene and to the deep subconscious programming. According to the film, people who make love are soon after slain by a psycho in a hockey mask. Oh right, you shouldn't skinny dip or smoke week either, folks or Jason is gonna get 'ya.
Reminds me of a twisted sequel to Argonaut Jason and Media's tale, in which the witch killed her own children because their father chose to love another woman. I wonder if the Latin Ovid composed that addition on Dies Veneris the 13th. I do not wonder about his deadly intent with papyrus and pen.  And I'm not playing by the rules of their ancient lame game anymore!
Picture
As the bright white Light of Evening Star Venus directs our gaze towards Neptune hiding somewhere in the darkness near the ever-invisible Dragon's Tail of South Lunar Node, I aim to reclaim the Goddess' Day from inner prisons constructed by ages of media manipulation. May the Sacred Sword of Mars guide us towards Chiron's gift of transmuting the venom of this collective wound into Heavenly medicine. Friday's Goddess is Exalted in the Pisces Sign now known as Neptune's Place, but once it held the face of Zeus who tonight we'll see embrace Brilliant Goddess Star Spica in Venus' Libra Mirror.  And, believe it or not, Saturn (now conjunct Juno and in mutual Reception with Jupiter) though he might cast a Square really has no choice but to assist.

Picture
Instead, of locking the doors and hiding in the shadows of superstition under my bed in fear on this one Friday the 13th of the year, I think I'll celebrate the Goddess instead on Her most Sacred day by opening my doors and dancing on the bed and every else She shines Her Light, wearing nothing but my re-birthday suit. Viva Viernes!!! And here's a little secret the numbers whisper to me... 13 is the One in the middle of the 12... the one called HEART.

Tea Spirit, The Lunar Masculine,                                     and the Cure for Cancer

7/5/2016

Picture
I first truly met Tea three years ago at Blooming Heart festival on Orcas Island. I hadn't found myself at a music festival since finding sobriety some eighteen months before and I arrived afraid; feeling old, underdressed, and otherwise out-of-place. Though, of course, these were false fear projections, there were still some serious logistical considerations for my reentry to festival culture. How would I make friends without chemical assistance for taming my social inhibitions? More importantly, how the hell would I stay awake??? If I hadn't carpooled, I truly might have tucked my tail and drove away. But Tea was there to hold me and show me that this indeed was my place.

I didn't see Her at first.  What I saw instead was a group of gigglers sitting around a beautifully ornamented table drinking from tiny cups consistently refilled by a slender man with a wizard beard that was just wizardly enough not to hide a smile that soundlessly invited me to sit and join the party. I would later discover that man was the genius visionary artist Eric Nez who has since become a great friend, inspiration, teacher, and brother, but before I could ask his name I had to ask the question required to protect my new way, "Um... what's IN it?"

"Tea!"

"Just Tea?" I asked, trying not to reveal my suspicions regarding the early afternoon exuberance of my table-mates. Eric spoke words that calmed my sobriety fears.  In fact, all of my fears were quickly quenched. I came to realize these folks simply choose to live a life of general exuberance and, over the course of a short weekend gathering, they would become true Family. Make friends without chemical assistance... check (depending on your classification of caffein, I suppose). A new word was born within my speech womb... Instimacy. See what I'm saying? Oh, and here's a thing about Nez... it's never "just tea" with a man who approaches Plant Spirit with intention and respect. Also, Eric keeps a library of incredible leaf. I'm not sure what variety he poured that day, but I do know it was my first dance with the sacred plant called Pu'er, a secret sauce that somehow simultaneously grounds and stimulates. Stay awake within the realms of my restrictions... check!

I am forever grateful to have been embraced by Tea Spirit. If I was asked to speak only one word to describe Her it would be "Family." Since She first held me at Blooming Heart, I have been honored to sit in circle with many festival Tea-Jays and to have learned from other modern masters such as Omar Riverstone, Elijah Parker of OneDoorLand, and especially the great TEAcher Po at Heaven's Tea. Her Spirit inspires my morning meditations and guides my astrological consultations by grounding my into the Below so I can securely receive information from the Above. And occasionally my Tea Boat is called to serve as the community craft. This year, in fact, I was invited to pour at Blooming Heart. What a gift to serve on the land where I had my first conscious sip.

Now, astrologically speaking, I find pouring Tea is quite an auspicious outlet, not only for my Virgo Venus who revels in the beauty of ceremony and sacred space, but also for Mars who was moving slowly in the Sign of Cancer at the time of my birth. Mars is Hot and Cancer is called to Nurture, you see. Though I have studied many Astrological Kung Fus, Daniel Giamario's Shamanic Astrology remains the stock of my starry stew and, on his branch of the cosmic tree, Mars represents the Sacred Masculine impulse and exploration. Daniel often invokes the great guide Carl Jung when speaking of Mars as Animus with this quote, "Masculinity is to know one's sword and to know how to use it." I've often wondered what the sword of Cancer could be. Shamanic Astrology allows a masculine expression of this Archetype typically associated with the Nurturing Mother by including Good Father, but still is its sword the Spatula? The Hug?? Perhaps the after-school carpool??? How can a single man who has not fathered children answer this Cancer nature of nurture? I recently rapped about these themes in a StarryTelling Podcast episode titled, Tears of the Sacred Masculine.

Age-old Astrological traditions suggest Cancer is the Sign of Mars' Fall. Technically, this is because Mars is Exalted across the chart in Capricorn, but psychologically speaking it's a reflection of cultures who could not find any sound reason for the Good of War to want to explore the essence of nurturing. I should say here that Shamanic Astrology has released these definitions of Rulership, Detriment, Exaltation, and Fall to honor the truth that every Archetype is a valid exploration and expression for each Planet. I find this to be beautiful and absolutely true, yet I have also found expansion through explorations of Planetary Dignity and Debility. Safe to say my Cancer Mars prefers another term that was used to describe a Sign "ruled" by a Planet... its Domicile.

Picture
This image shows the Traditional Planetary Domiciles. Star Students are typically taught to learn them in this way...
The Sun Rules Leo because it is the hottest month (Northern Hemisphere) and the Moon is the Sun's neighbor in Cancer. From there, each Planet is placed in proximity to Sun and Moon according to its speed: Mercury is neighbor to Moon in Gemini and to Sun in Virgo, Venus is neighbor to Mercury in Taurus and Libra, Mars is neighbor to Venus in Aries and Scorpio, Jupiter is neighbor to Mars in Pisces and Sagittarius, and Saturn is neighbor to Jupiter in Aquarius and Capricorn. Unlimited astrological contemplations are available in this mystical map: in which Seasons do Planets thrive?, which Planet does another gaze upon across the Table of the Signs and how do Planets naturally aspect each other otherwise?, ...

For now, I'd like to explore the idea that each Planet has a Diurnal and Nocturnal Domicile. These are shown by the alchemical symbols for the Elements in the inner ring. Earth and Water belong to the Chalice (downward-pointing triangles), which designates Nocturnal (Yin) Signs while Air and Fire belong to the Blade (upward-pointing triangles), which designate Diurnal (Yang) Signs. For Example, Venus' Nocturnal (Yin) Domicile is Taurus (Earth/Chalice) and Diurnal (Yang) Domicile is Libra (Air/Blade). Study of these Domiciles has helped me understand why I've always felt more of a Yin essence in Libra though it is a Air (Yang) Sign and more of a Yang essence in Scorpio though it is a Water (Yin) Sign. Let's use trigger words of dignitary and gender (uh oh) to get this point across: Libra, though Masculine, is ruled by Venus and Scorpio, though Feminine, is ruled by Mars.

Astrological Gender tends to be one of the more challenging subjects to present in my StarryTelling workshops these days. I am a proud card-holding member of a conscious culture tending to human evolution through exploration of gender neutrality. Without a doubt, we each have our Yin and Yang halves, but I personally find we are meant to honor each without merging them into One. I love this term presented to me by cosmic colleague Adam Gainsburg in a recent interview for my 13th Flower Venus project: The Not-Two. How can we explore gender neutrality while honoring the human biological polarity necessary for reproduction? As my then-six-year-old niece Whitney once clearly pointed out while circling the Thanksgiving table, "Grandy has a penis, Nana has a giney, Daddy has a penis, Mommy has a giney, Unc B. has..." Don't kids just say the darndest things? Well what will we lose should this darnest thing be damned? It has become anything but PC to riddle the mysteries of Gender, has it not? Occasionally, I chose to speak "Yin" and "Yang" to avoid angering the crowd, but personally feel that "Feminine" and "Masculine" carry more inherent transmission, especially through triggered reaction, so I typically stick to my guns, as it were.

And now, slowly to the point of this prose. Isn't it interesting that this exploration of Astrological Domicile awards both Masculine and Feminine Signs to both Venus who Shamanic Astrology sees as the Divine Feminine Principle and Mars who Shamanic Astrology sees as the Sacred Masculine Principle? Now in recent times, the Scorpio Sign was stripped from Mars and awarded to Pluto. Shouldn't that have caused a fallout? And what will be put together from this tearing apart? Many of my associated contemplations can be heard in this StarryTelling Podcast also linked above. Regardless, even modern astrologers recognize Scorpio as at least a partial Domicile of Mars.

The two "Planets" who aren't awarded Domiciles of each Gender are Sun and Moon.  Sun only rules Leo (Fire / Diurnal / Yang / Masculine) and Moon only rules Cancer (Water / Nocturnal / Yin / Feminine). What's up with that??? Ancient astrological teachings, in fact, presented Sun as Father and Moon as Mother. Indeed, even in the Emerald Tablets of HERmes, we read, "The Sun is its Father, the Moon its Mother, the Wind has carried it in its belly, the Earth is its Nurse." However, I find Sun as Masculine and Moon as Feminine is entirely limited. My study of Sacred Geometry has led me to a higher understanding of Sun as Spirit and Moon as Soul, a contemplation I've since found confirmed through mystical pursuits in many directions.

Picture
One of the Roots of the Sacred Geometry study is the Seed of Life: Six circles woven through One. These Seven lend themselves to the Seven Lights of traditional astrology (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn), but I was unable to fit them as Six around the One (which is Earth... Us) until I saw that Sun and Moon should be treated as the Not-Two, for this idea holds true not only for Yin and Yang, but also for Spirit and Soul. This image I created for a presentation in February has served as a seed that has continued to sprout and grow. If Sun and Moon are the Not-Two, what does this mean for the Signs of Leo and Cancer? Well, I now see that Sun and Moon should both share those Two Domiciles.  Or should I say Not-Two Domiciles? And this change of astro-address has allowed me to receive mail postmarked with stamps of more beautiful balance.

A beautiful phrase was spoken by my brother Jake at Blooming Heart last weekend, "Nurturance Culture is the solution to Violence Culture." Here's to that! Calling forth the Not-Two will heal the wounds that have long festered during ages of Yin Yang imbalance. We have invoked the Solar Feminine right on time. The question is, how much trauma will Her radiance need to burn away for us to return to Grace? Will we once again require the rage of Blood-Thirsty Kali Ma or Lion-Headed Sekhmet?  Skip ahead a few pages in each of their stories and you'll find our path to pursuing peace without need for so much fury. Just as Shiva laid in a Kali's path with a Heart full of pure love, Ptah soothed Sekhmet's Fire with calming Waters. Why wait for destruction to demand such alchemy?

Surely, the compliment of the Solar Feminine is the Lunar Masculine. And just who is He if not a cool cup for Her hot tea? Can this Masculine possibly reflect and receive though He was trained to outshine and fight or be lost to Her sight? Yes, because He is courageous enough to redefine courage. In fact, the Lunar Masculine takes courage to the next level. He is courageous enough to be soft. He is courageous enough to admit He needs to heal. He is courageous enough to feel though He was taught such experience and expression is week. He is courageous enough to reverse perverse pop programming to remember the only V-word he truly must seek is Vulnerability. And He understands that as He is healed, He heals the world. He understands He is Man and Boy and Woman and Girl. And so is She. And We are They.

Now, we were cultured to believe father is structure and mother is embrace. Many of us have found this tale rather untrue, a strange gift that mysteriously empowers us to rewrite the rules. Why should the Feminine need to fight for Her Sacred Space? We have been invited to remember the visions received in Her Red Tent carry the very wisdom that brings balance. A forgotten role of the Sacred Masculine is to protect this dreamtime. Now gents, before you go reaching for your Sword, let's remember to protect is to serve. And to serve is to protect. The alchemy we seek is found through the service of the Heart. As the Masculine serves All through the creation of Nurturance for family and tribe, Feminine freedom is protected so She may ray forth Her dream with no need for epic destruction.

Here's the trick: we are each the dreamer and we are each the one who keeps the fire lit to protect the nest. We are the notes and we are the rests. We are the Not-Two. When we complete ourselves, our compliment appears. Only in the Space of Selfness, will we find our way back to the true father-mothership called Othership. Here, the Not-Two shine as equals, emitting their own and also reflecting each other's bright rays. It's a straight-up light show.

Picture
Tomorrow (July 6th, 2016), HERmes will reach Cazimi, which I've heard translated both as "In the Heart of it" and "In the throne room of the King" and the Cancer calling of our Consciousness will be lensed through the bright light of the Sun to our beautiful Earth then out to find Pluto hiding out in the darkness of Space on the other side of the Chart. I'm called to share the Sabian Symbol the 17th Degree of Capricorn that currently holds Pluto's hidden hand: "A repressed woman finds a psychological release in nudism." Hmmmm. And what about the 16th Degree of Cancer where Mercury will align behind the Sun?: "A man studying a mandala in front of him with the help of a very ancient book."

Well, I say it's time for us to recreate ancient mandalas for the Book of Balance we have been called to paint. And one such mandala expresses the Cure for Cancer by honoring this Sign as a natural domicile for the Not-Two. Yes, Cancer is home to the Moon, but why should the Sun not be most honored in this Sign that is born on the day of our daylight's highest height? As I write, perhaps the Sun IS home in Cancer and the Moon IS home in Leo. The reemerging reciprocals of Solar Feminine and Lunar Masculine show us that Spirit and Soul are Not-Two.  One more Sabian Symbol then to stir the stew of this contemplation.  This for the 26th degree of Pisces were we find the great centaur mentor Chiron who birthed empathy through initiation of the Sacred Wound: "Watching the very thin Moon crescent appearing at Sunset, different people realize that the time has come to go ahead with their different projects." Now, I just love it when a Sabian Symbol ties a pretty bow on a strange package of astrobabble.  And let's take note that among the many intriguing alignments found on this 7.6.16 Mercury Cazimi chart, Pisces Chiron is in a very strong Grand Water Trine with Cancer Venus and Scorpio Mars.  Yin and Yang, Spirit and Soul, the Two are Not-Two.

P.S. - here's an exercise for the fellas to open the invitation marked "Lunar Masculine."  Get to know the Moon... play the Moon Game.  Get to know YOUR MOON, not just by Sign, House and Aspect, but by PHASE and Cycle.  I believe we Men also have a monthly cycle.  It is more difficult for us to connect to because we will not be initiated into this awareness through the blood mysteries, but our Sisters can help guide us if we are open to receive. Start with the Phase of the Moon you were born into as this is a true symbol of relationship between Spirit and Soul. Every month, have a self-healing ceremony when the Moon finds Her way back to your Phase. Focus on your feelings. Now here's the trick... do this without words. Now you too are a Man in the Moon.

Our Nation's Capitol As Stone Circle

DeCyphering the Star Mysteries of D.C.

The Azimuth of Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. that runs from the Capitol Building Northwest to the White House is 290 degrees. This direction is aligned to the Sunset on Beltane (May 1st) and to the setting of the bright star Aldeberan (the Eye of the Bull) on all days.

Similarly, the Sun on Samhain and the bright star Sirius (every day) Set over the Jefferson Memorial as seen from the Capitol Building along Maryland Ave.This means that Sirius and the Samhain Sun rise over the Capitol as seen from the White House and that Aldeberan and the Beltane Sun rise over the Capitol as seen from the Jefferson Memorial. Equinox Sunrise and Sunset (East - West) connects Capitol Building and Lincoln Memorial. There are Solstice Alignments around the city as well.

Mason Magic perhaps? There are many, many such alignments in DC as well as most major cities. I look forward to showing more of the DC Star Mysteries sometime soon.

Here Comes the Sun King

Sunday is the Sun's Day (makes sense right). The old traditions teach us that the Sun rules Leo where it is now and that the Sun joys in the 9th House (which is Spirit). The Leo Sun shines from the 9th House between 3:51pm and 6:17pm PST today. Let's have a look to the sky and thanks to Source. The Sun is accompanied in its Sign today by his messenger Mercury and Retrograde Venus Conjunct Jupiter.

If you honor the Asteroid Goddess as I do, know that Sun is in Grand FireTrine with Aries Vesta (Hestia / Brigid) - the keeper of the Sacred Flame and Sagittarius Pallas Athena (Minerva) - Goddess of Wisdom and Craft. May the Sacred Flame Spark Roaring Flames in the Cauldron of Self-Love and Play so the Smoke that travels far and wide may rise to the Heavens.

Perhaps this Vesta-Sun-Athena Grand Fire Trine is most activated this Tuesday (Mars' Day) when Moon joins Vesta in Aries and Mercury stands witness to 2015's second Venus-Jupiter Conjunction while Mars rises from the Underworld in Cancer to return after four months of Underworld initiation. Has the Sacred Masculine retrieved gifts of tenderness and nurturing to support the Divine Feminine as she prepares to begin a 19-month investigation of the Leo Mysteries to reclaim the illuminated throne of the Lioness? Yes yes yes!

More about this dynamic dance of the celestial symphony in this latest StarryTelling Podcast.

See you on the Light Side of the Sun!

Saturday is Saturn's Day and Aquarius used to be his territory.  Shortly after revolutionary and eccentric Uranus was discovered in 1781, Aquarius was reassigned by modern astrologers. Traditionalists and Saturn probably aren't too keen on that, eh?

Well Saturn, how's this for Aquarian?  By which, I mean to say eccentric.  Since Venus and Uranus stationed Retrograde last weekend, more Planets have been (apparently) traveling backwards through the Constellations of the Zodiac than forwards.  Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, Chiron, Saturn, and Venus are all currently retrograde.  Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter are currently direct, but none of them can be seen because they are too close to the Sun.  This means every Planet we can see with eyes or Earth-Based telescopes is moving retrograde.  This will hold until Saturn stations direct at 10:53pm PST tonight (8/1/15).  What does it all mean?  Good question.

Retrograde motion gives us an opportunity to go within for review and reset.  Planets in the Underworld like Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter are being cleansed by the Fire of the Sun.  Certainly, the coming Venus rebirth in Leo, the three 2015 Venus-Mars conjunctions and the three 2015 Venus-Jupiter Conjunctions are contributing to this quest.

The image that has been coming to me is a calling to compost our inner world tree into the soil from which our next will grow.  It's much like the Tower card of the Tarot.  Time to let the old Tower fall and to use its bricks to construct a new one.  Another image that came in while I recorded this Hanuman / Kali Ma StarryTelling Podcast episode was that, with Saturn Retrograde in Scorpio, we are called to let the final feathers of the Phoenix burn so we can truly rise from the ashes.  Perhaps the true rising begins with Saturn's station tonight and completes with Saturn's ingress into Sagittarius on September 17th, hours after Mercury next stations retrograde.  Perhaps Saturn's entire transit through Sagittarius until December 19th, 2017 carries that cosmic calling.  What will the coming Saturn Squares to Neptune, Jupiter, and the Lunar Nodes have to add to that quest??  And how about the Mutable Grand Cross formed by all of those players and the Gemini New Moon conjunct Venus next June?  Intriguing!  Time for some purification to prepare.

The Phoenix will rise!  The new Tree will sprout!  The new tower will be built!  But first, can we let final feathers burn?  Can we compost the old?  Can we choose to dive from the crumbling Tower with hope as our cape rather than clutching our tired crown and falling in fear?  The Fires of Will choose to follow the diver.

The Aquarius Moon shines brightly on this Revolution of Self.  Sometimes we must destroy before we can create.  What can you let burn today during Saturn's last hours of Scorpio retrograde?

Some dates for ceremony:

Saturn Stations Direct in Scorpio - 8/1/15
Venus Stations Direct in Leo - 9/6/15
Pluto Stations Direct in Capricorn - 9/24/15
Neptune Stations Direct in Pisces - 11/18/15
Chiron Stations Direct in Pisces - 11/27/15
Uranus Stations Direct in Aries - 12/25/15

Mars helical rise / return - 8/4/15
Venus in Cazimi - 8/15/15

Starry Telling Episode 5 - 7/31/15 - Athena and Mars - Moon Drought Blues - Yin and Yang
* featuring the celestial voice of Madelioness Moondrop and an oldie but goodie by the Marcels

The modern definition of Blue Moon (2nd Full Moon of a calendar month) really doesn't resonate. Why would the Moon care about our disharmonic calendar? Why would the Moon care about this month named after Caesar? What about the definition of Blue Moon as the second consecutive Full Moon in the same Astrological Sign? Getting closer, but still off. The old definition of Blue Moon is the third Full Moon in a season that features four. Why would this resonate? Because this links the Lunar motions to the Solar/Earthly Motions, you see? Equinoxes and Solstices don't care whose calendar you're using. And neither does the Moon! Trying to align the Moon's year with that of the Sun can cause serious lunacy. In this 5th episode of the StarryTelling Podcast, celestial navigator Gemini Brett dives head on into that confusion, describes why it correlates to the discord between yin and yang energies at this stage of the Earth Game, speaks about how the cycles of Moon, Nodes, Eclipses, Venus, and Mars are reflecting our calling to balance those energies to usher in an age of collaboration and peace. He also describes some of the odd approaches he's personally taking. Featuring a heart opening story of Athena and Mars spoken to the rhythm of Puget Sound Waves and the celestial voice of Madelioness Moondrop. This episode also features an oldie, but goodie by the Marcels!

We hope you'll enjoy and we'll see you on the Blue Side of the Moon!

Drought

-Drought-

It'll rain from the skies
When it rains from our eyes
We've been burying,
Carrying
The waters inside

Now the carrion birds
Smell the death of the herd
That's been grazing
On raisins
From an Earth that's too dry

Let us light a new fire
To melt down this ice
We've got puddles
Of cuddles
And love by our side

You know it's true what we're told
As above, so below
Mother, hold me
Enfold me
And let the storm waters blow

Let the high thunders shout
As within, so without
Father, lengthen me
Strengthen me
To put an end to this drought

It'll rain from the skies
When it rains from our eyes
No more burying,
Carrying
Let the fresh waters rise

Retrograde Saturn in Scorpio would like to call your attention to this "Gospel of Thomas" quote, "If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you."

Here's a StarryTelling Podcast episode about cultivating your power through Saturn's last months in Scorpio for 28 years
